Heritage Associates was founded in 1974. Today it is one of the leading real estate sales and management companies in Eastern Iowa. Heritage offers a wide range of real estate products and services for commercial tenants and real estate investors, as well as quality rental housing for the general public.
Commercial Real Estate Brokerage is a central focus of Heritage’s services. Commercial activity includes securing and negotiating locations for new or expanding companies, in addition to the leasing of office and warehousing space. Years of experience in structuring financial packages contribute to the timely and successful completion of real estate transactions.
Property Management: In addition to real estate sales, Heritage operates one of the largest fee-based property management companies in Eastern Iowa. Founded in 1975, Heritage Property Management provides customized turn-key operations for apartment complexes, shopping malls, office buildings, warehouses, condominium associations and student housing.
Business Brokerage is a specialized service Heritage provides to those interested in the purchase or sale of closely-held companies. Active in consulting and sales, Heritage provides confidential professional guidance and assistance to both buyer and seller.
Property Development has long been a prominent part of Heritage’s activity. Quality renovation of existing commercial and multi-family structures, new construction, as well as commercial development projects are popular services available to Heritage’s clients.

Mr. Slattery first received an Iowa real estate broker’s license in 1986, and is a 1988 graduate of Iowa State University, holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. Immediately upon graduation, he began working in the Iowa City office of Des Moines-based firm of Carlson, McClure and Associates, Inc., the largest commercial real estate appraisal and consulting company in Iowa. In 1993, the Iowa City office became Cook and Associates, and Mr. Slattery continued his employment through 1995, appraising, consulting and analyzing all types of commercial and industrial investment property throughout central and eastern Iowa.
In 1995, Mr. Slattery returned to Cedar Rapids to work for the family business, Heritage Associates Corporation, where he is currently President. Tom oversees all brokerage, property management, commercial leasing and business development, the mentoring of small start-up companies and private client real estate consulting. Since joining Heritage, he has been directly involved in the development, renovation and re-development of various commercial and multi-family buildings in the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City markets.
Mr. Slattery has been married to Lisa A. Wilson since 1995, and is the father of two young sons. He has served on several local boards, most recently with Junior Achievement of East Central Iowa, and he has been actively involved in many community volunteer programs and activities. Tom is a 1999 graduate of the Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership for Five Seasons program.

Ms. Reves attended the College of St. Mary in Omaha, Nebraska, and after college, returned to Sioux City, Iowa, to begin an accounting career with Bekins, a large furniture and relocation firm.
In 1987, a job transfer resulted in relocating to Cedar Rapids, and she began working for Midland Property Management. In May of 1988, that business was purchased by Heritage Associates Corporation. Ms. Reves became the Manager in Heritage’s Accounting Department, and currently serves as Vice-President of Operations for the Property Management Division. As a real estate broker, Ms. Reves oversees all aspects of the Property Management area, encompassing daily operations, maintenance, condominium association management, residential and student housing, commercial property management, mobile home parks and receiverships.
Ms. Reves and her husband, Vernon, are the parents of an adult son and an adult daughter. She is a member of Landlords of Linn County, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and has been actively involved in community programs, including Hope Lodge, and the Alzheimer’s Association East Central Iowa Chapter. She is an alumnus of the Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership for Five Seasons program.

Mr. Slattery is a graduate of the Eastman School of the University of Rochester (New York), and holds his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Iowa. He taught four years in Iowa Public Schools and, from 1966 to 1979, was on the faculty of Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he became a tenured member of the faculty, full professor and Department Chairman.
Since 1979, Mr. Slattery has been involved in the commercial real estate industry as an investor, developer and broker. He is the principal stockholder of Heritage Associates Corporation, Hawkeye Escrow Company, Centurion Properties, and is the Managing Partner of several real estate entities. Through his entrepreneurial endeavors, he has built, renovated and developed numerous commercial and multi-family buildings. He has grown Heritage Property Management into an established and respected company, devoted to the management of real estate properties. Mr. Slattery and his companies have often served as court-appointed receiver for various real estate and business entities requiring third-party management control.
Mr. Slattery is married to Clare Lynn Durr, and they are the parents of two adult sons. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Elmcrest Country Club, the Cedar Rapids Downtown District, and the St. Martin Land Company, a gas, oil and real estate investment company. Mr. Slattery is a Commissioner for the City of Cedar Rapids SSMID District.
